Exilium World

Exilium takes place within the lore of Conan and world of Conan Exiles. With a bit magic, and storytelling, we find the world of which you experience.

Exiled Lands of Old

Millennia ago, the area of the Exiled Lands was once a great civilization and kingdom ruled by Giant Kings, Serpentmen and Human Lemurian.

The lands had a sparse population of humans, travelers and other races. A small sect of Serpentmen within the volcano. Unknown if before the or after the Giant Kings arrival, but uninterested in such a place or their small covenant and religion.

With their growing power and technology the Giant Kings, already an organized society, said to come from another realm, or world, were the first true rulers. They employed and enslaved much of the population, building a great city, governing, and spreading their influence and civilization across the land.

As the Giant Kings solidified their rule, they found an increasing population of Lemurian travelers and refugees of wars and sunderings to the east. While this brought to them new slaves and technology, they were also cautious of their new neighbors many of which denied their rule. The kings negotiated with their leaders and came to conclude the coast was theirs to control.

Fall of the God Kings

In secret, the Giant Kings felt their kingdom intruded upon and predicted the Lemurians would be a threat to their rule and soon turn on them. They reached out to the serpentment to combine their skill and power to create powerful bracelets and erect border pillars around the territories. The bracelets became a tool to offer 'gifts' to all races and allies of the Giant Kings, but were also used as a binding for those who served them.

When the Lemurian discovered the plot, the giants kingdom had grown to be a nearly unmatched force. Despite many now being scattered across the lands, the tensions grew, until the war began. In attempt to take command of the bracelets, the Lemurian focused on the Serpentmen. With the denial of help from the kings, they were overwhelmed and retracted deeper into the volcano

Disappointed but suppressed the Serpentmen declared war in their previous allies. Activating the borders they seperated much of the lands from each other, trapping forces in what could now be considered hostile lands.

The war continued, devastating all sides, crumbling empires and kingdoms.

Power, Greed, & Betrayal

With the war concluded and empires crumbled the remnants wandered the wilderness trapped within. For another millenia the lands remained mostly idle and overgrown with signs of previous societies dwindling.

Eventually a traveling wizard and treasure hunter had rumored to have discovered the source of power to the bracelets and wall. Using this power he influenced worldly powers and empires, offering a prison for all lands and realms to cast away their unwanted for his own means. Dispatching his legion he distributed the bracelets, and planted many in secret to also entrap the curious and collectors. The wizard began a ritual, tying control of the lands to his own power. The bracelets powers and souls of those captured would fuel his power.

The exiled lands grew again in occupation, many castaways, slaves, and even those claim to have died while wearing the bracelet ended up within the walls of the Exilium. Despite remaining hidden away, letting the population grow within the walls, the wizard's power grew beyond control. Death, torture, and pain all fueled his power. It is rumored he dispatch his own minions, to suppress many within the lands, to keep them docile and controlled. Few were offered a path to freedom, much of these only deceived into slavery.

With population growth came settlements and societies, factions and governing bodies. Founded by an Imperium commander and prisoner of war, The Ordo Imperialis was one of the first and original forces risen to conquer the land within the walls. Focused on restoring order and finding answers, the Imperium swept across the lands with promises of prosperity and freedom under service of its new Imperator.

The Great Rifts

With the wizards power growing beyond his control, and the growth of the Imperium, his presence was eventually revealed as the mastermind behind Exilium, but he was unreachable by normal means.

The Imperator swore to find a way to break the wizards power and control over the lands and its people. Despite how unfavorable they could be. If the lands were to be a prison, it shall be a prison the Imperium would control.

The Imperator dispatched his Shadow Legion to seek out and other expeditions, seeking items of power, artifacts and remnant of old he could use against the Wizard. Then he brought together every shaman and sorcerer he could call upon to call upon every power, the link to the realm, the bracelets and border walls, he ascended through the threads of magus, beyond the realm to face the wizard.

The world shook as storms of sand, snow, and rain struck the lands. The Maelstrom first touched the lands, causing rifts in time and space expelling species from many worlds and realms, some broken, others lost. In hopes these rifts an escape, those who attempted to traverse them were expelled violently, crushed by tentacles that were found to be within, or dropped from the sky.

Factions

After years of silence and uncertainty, the storms only calmed a little. The rifts continuing to shatter the realms remain as evidence and belief the fight continues. Decades go by, mostly peaceful, the Ordo Imperialis waiting for the return of their Emperor, but not without cost.

The realm had become uneasy and unstable again. Sects and factions began to develop their own civilizations across the lands. Internal strife and kingdoms grew, in hopes to separate from the Imperium for their own goals.

Without the Emperor, the Imperium Tribunal had little they could do to stop it. With the growing population, the factions offered a way to better delegate responsibility to the lands. Eventually a treaty was negotiated to allow the factions to grow on their own accord without absolute oversight, as long as the overall security and claims of land, fell under the Ordo Imperialis. Select members of each faction joined the Exilium council and Imperium Commander, Xoza Shadow was elected as the new Imperator.
